The short version
- We only store what a feature needs to work. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never sell data.
- Our bots do not save the text of your messages. The only exception is a 513th support ticket, whose channel is saved when the ticket is closed.
- Discord login gives us your Discord ID and username. Never your email or password.
- Everything is stored on our own servers in Sweden.
- Want something removed? Email [email protected], open a support case or message a 513th officer on Discord.
1. Who we are
513th Frog Battalion ("513th", "we", "us") is a non-commercial gaming community for War Thunder and other games. We run the website 513th.se and the Discord bots513th Support, 513th Town Crier, 513th VC Managerand F.R.O.G. (together, "the services"). The services are run by volunteers from the community and hosted on our own servers in Sweden.
We are responsible (the "data controller" under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) for the personal data described here. How to reach us is in Contact.
2. The website (513th.se)
Just visiting
Like every website, our servers and our network provider Cloudflare receive technical information when you load a page: your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. We use it to deliver the page, to block attacks and to limit repeated login attempts. It is not used to build a profile of you.
The site loads its font from Google Fonts, so your browser also contacts Google's servers, which see your IP address.
Cookies
We set one cookie, a session cookie that keeps you logged in. It is only created when you log in or start a login. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies. We use no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner.
Login with Discord
- Support pages (
/support): Discord gives us your Discord user ID and username. - Dashboard (
/dashboard): we also receive your display name, your avatar and the list of Discord servers you are in. We keep only the servers where you are owner, Administrator or have Manage Server, and only inside your login session, so we can show the servers you may set our bots up in. The list is not saved to our database. - We never receive your email address or password. The login token from Discord is revoked right after login, so we cannot act on your behalf later.
Dashboard activity
When you change a bot's settings in the dashboard, we log your Discord ID, your name, what you changed and when. Server admins can see this history for their own server. 513th staff logins and admin actions are logged in the same way.
Applications and support cases
- What you fill in on the form (for example region, Statshark link, ranks and your message).
- For applications: squadron statistics we already have for your War Thunder account.
- For applications: whether your Discord or War Thunder name appears on shared community lists of players reported for bad behaviour. Only staff see the result, and we only see that a name is listed, not why.
- The messages in your private ticket channel on our Discord server. They are saved as a transcript when the ticket is closed, and the channel is then deleted.
- Staff notes, staff votes and the final decision.
Only 513th staff can see tickets: recruiters for applications, the support team for support cases and the site administrators. Tickets are kept as part of the squadron's history until you ask us to delete them.
Squadron members
For players in the 513th squadron we keep a member list: War Thunder nickname and user ID, squadron role, squadron points and activity (taken from War Thunder's public squadron data), season scores, join and leave dates, roster status and, if linked, your Discord ID and username. It is used to run the squadron, track seasons and post leaderboards. Former members are kept so we can recognise returning players.
Donations
Donations go through PayPal. PayPal handles the payment under its own privacy policy, and we only see what PayPal shows the receiver (usually your name, email and the amount).
3. Our Discord bots
A bot in a Discord server receives events from Discord (for example "a member joined" or "someone used a command"), limited by the permissions the server gave it. Our bots only store what is listed below for each bot. Everything else is handled in memory and forgotten.
Server administrators decide which bots and features run in their server. If you are a server admin, please tell your members which features you have turned on, especially statistics and logging.
3.1 513th Support
Runs only on the 513th Discord server. It creates the private ticket channels for applications and support cases, gives roles to accepted applicants and posts the squadron's announcements and reminders. The same Discord app is used for "Login with Discord" on 513th.se.
- Tickets: as described under Applications and support cases. Reading messages in ticket channels is the only reason this bot uses Discord's message content access.
- Announcements: the text of scheduled posts and who created them.
- Members: it reads the 513th server's member list to check whether you are on the server and to assign roles.
3.2 513th Town Crier
Posts in a Discord channel when a Twitch, YouTube or Kick channel goes live, and posts new items from RSS feeds. It does not read messages in your server.
- Server: server ID, name and icon, the channels, roles and custom texts you choose.
- Followed streamers: public channel information from Twitch, YouTube or Kick (channel ID, name, display name, profile picture, live status, stream title and game). This is shared between servers that follow the same channel, and deleted when no server follows it anymore.
- Live posts: which post belongs to which stream, so it can be updated when the stream ends.
- RSS feeds: the feed address and a fingerprint of items already posted, so nothing is posted twice.
- Change history: the Discord ID and name of whoever added, changed or removed something, and when.
To check live status the bot contacts Twitch, YouTube (Google) and Kick, and fetches the RSS feeds you add. These services only see our server's requests, not who you are.
3.3 513th VC Manager
Creates temporary voice channels when someone joins a "join to create" channel and removes them when they are empty. It does not read messages.
- Server: server ID, name and icon, hub channels and settings.
- Active channels: the channel, its owner's Discord ID and name, and whether it is locked or hidden. Removed when the channel is deleted.
- Saved channel settings: your preferred channel name, user limit, bitrate and lock state, so your next channel starts the same way. Use
/voice resetto forget them. - Always allow / always block lists: the Discord ID and name of the people you add. Use
/voice forgetto remove someone. - Voice statistics (only if the server admin turns it on, off by default): your Discord ID and name, which temporary channel, and when you joined and left. Kept for 365 days.
- Change history: who changed which setting, and when.
If a server enables the {game} channel name, the bot reads the game you are playing from your Discord status to name the channel. It is not stored.
3.4 F.R.O.G. (Federated Response & Operations Guard)
A moderation and community bot. It is built from modules that each server turns on or off, so a server only stores data for the modules it uses. It uses Discord's member list and message content access for moderation, automod and logging.
- Moderation cases: warnings, timeouts, kicks, bans and notes: the member, the moderator, the reason and the time. Also actions taken through Discord's own menus.
- Member history: when members joined and left, which invite they used, and role changes.
- Activity statistics: per member, channel and day, the number of messages, links and media, and time in voice, plus the ID of your latest message. Never the text.
- Message logs: deleted and edited messages can be shown in the server's log channel. The text is only posted in Discord and is not written to our database. The same goes for automod removals.
- Alt detection (if turned on): the name and a short image fingerprint (hash) of banned users' avatars, used to flag look-alike accounts for moderators. Deleted on unban. It never bans anyone by itself.
- Points and levels: XP, level and rewards per member.
- Birthdays: only the day and month you enter yourself, never the year.
- Polls, events and giveaways: who voted, signed up or entered. Anonymous polls never show who voted, not even to moderators.
- Server settings, saved replies (tags), welcome texts and role panels.
4. Why we may use your data
- To give you the service you ask for (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)): handling your application or support case, running the bot features you or your server use.
- Legitimate interests (art. 6(1)(f)): keeping the services secure, running the squadron, moderating Discord servers on behalf of their admins, and keeping a history of changes so mistakes and abuse can be traced. We keep this to what is needed, and you can object (see Your rights).
- Consent (art. 6(1)(a)): things you choose to give us, such as your birthday. You can remove it at any time.
6. Where it is stored and how it is protected
Data is stored in databases on our own servers in Sweden. Each bot has its own database. Backups are encrypted before they are saved to our own backup storage. Only a few 513th administrators have access to the servers, and staff can only see what their role needs.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept |
|---|---|
| Login session | Until you log out or the session expires. |
| Applications and support cases | Kept as part of the squadron's history until you ask us to delete them. |
| Squadron member list | While you are a member, and afterwards as history so we recognise returning players. Ask us to delete it. |
| Bot settings for a server | Until a server admin removes them. If the bot is removed from the server, ask us and we delete the server's data. |
| Town Crier streamers and feeds | Until no server follows them anymore. Already-posted markers: 2 days (Twitch) and 30 days (RSS). |
| VC Manager voice statistics | 365 days. |
| VC Manager saved settings and lists | Until you reset or remove them. |
| F.R.O.G. moderation cases and member history | Until the server's moderators remove them, or the server asks us to delete its data. |
| F.R.O.G. alt detection data | Until the user is unbanned. |
| Backups | A limited number of copies. Older copies are deleted as new ones are made. |
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to:
- tell you what we store about you and give you a copy,
- correct data that is wrong,
- delete your data,
- limit how we use it, or object to us using it,
- give you your data in a format you can take elsewhere.
Send the request as described in Contact. We will answer within one month. Some data, such as a moderation case in a server you were banned from, may be kept if the server's admins have a good reason, but we will tell you if that is the case.
You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, imy.se) or the data protection authority where you live.
9. Children
Discord requires users to be at least 13 (or older in some countries), and so do we. If you believe a child under that age has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
When we add features we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to you, for example a bot starting to store something new, we will also announce it on our Discord server.
11. Contact
- Email [email protected],
- open a support case on 513th.se (log in with Discord), or
- message a 513th officer on our Discord server.
For a server's bot data, please include the server's ID and write from (or mention) a Discord account that is owner or admin of that server, so we can check it is really you.
